I know it is still a bit early to think about this but even more the reason to post. If you plan to get a season pass for Mount Seymour this year, they have their annual sale starting tomorrow. 60% off if you buy in September. You can go here
In case you don’t read Joel like I do, the folks at Stack Overflow have released a new questions and answers forums for WordPress based on Stack Exchange. Now I know there is already one on WordPress.org but you can never have enough of those and also the Stack Exchange UI/Experience makes it easier to find what you really need fast.
I finally got my iPhone 3GS unlocked. Todd sent me this link www.jailbreakme.com a while back but i didn’t want to risk it before going on our trip to Québec since I had pre-loaded a bunch of movies and games on it and didn’t want to end up with an iBrick. So today I decided to give it a go and it was by far the easiest, painless, fastest jailbreaking and unlocking process of all. No need to find an IPSW file anywhere, no jailbreak software to download. Just go to that website, use the slider and about 5 minutes later, your phone is jailbreaked. You then use cydia to install ultrasn0w and reboot the phone and the phone is unlocked. Very nice.
My wife got me an iPad for our ten year anniversary and I love it. Such a great format. It has also been a hit with everyone on my recent trip to Québec. If there are some complaints I could make about it, they are the following:
1) Flash support would be great. So many times I want to view some content (usually a video on Facebook) and just can’t. That was also the first complaint my sister and brother had as they now watch some TV content via flash. Somewhat of a bummer having to go back to a computer just for that.
2) Some type of way to pan an embedded Google map on a website. I do geocaching quite a bit and it is hard to move the map around.
3) More apps which are designed for the iPad instead of iPhone which just happened to work ok on it. I guess that will come with time.
Besides that it is great. BTW this post was made from my iPad using the WordPress app which works really well on it. My favorite apps so far are:
- WordPress (should be obvious)
- YouTube
- Zap2It – Great TV schedule app with favorites and searches
- Photoshop Express – I can see many hours with that one
- Couple of games from Donut Games
- Video viewer. I converted a few of my DVDs using Handbrake so we could watch them on the plane/car. Very nice.
Today is our 10 year anniversary! Yes 10 years ago we were getting itched at UBC, dancing to Chubby Checker and Kung Fu Fighting, and watching shooting stars and northern lights. I had a lot more hair back then and what I had was still brown! A lot has happened in 10 years: 2 kids with one more on the way, bought a house in the burbs, new job (been over 5 years now), some traveling, and on the down side a kid battling cancer (she is all good now). We did manage to avoid the minivan although came close and got SUV. I wouldn’t change anything and I still look at my wife the same way and like I said on our wedding night, in Vancouver there are the mountains, the oceans, and the skiing but compared to Kim, they mean nothing to me. Here’s to another 10 years.
Pretty funny. Reminds me of the post I did back in 2002 comparing European hockey to NHL hockey using Pulp Fiction script.
Update: ok thanks for Blogger I was able to find my old posts
I’ve been enjoying watching olympic hockey the last few days even when Canada got tumped by Sweden. Here is a little transcript adaptation from Pulp Fiction (my wife’s idea):
VINCENT
But you know what the funniest thing about
Internatial Hockey is?
JULES
What?
VINCENT
It’s the little differences. A
lotta the same shit we got here,
they got there, but there they’re a
little different.
JULES
Examples?
VINCENT
Well, in IH, you can make
make a two line pass. And I
don’t mean a little two lines pass.
I mean from your own end all the way
to the others blue line, In Sweden,
they have this thing called the Torpedo.
Also, you know what the width of a hockey rink is?
JULES
It is not 85 feet wide?
VINCENT
No, they got the metric system
there, they wouldn’t know what the
f*ck a feet is.
JULES
What is it then?
VINCENT
30 meters.
JULES
(repeating)
30 meters. What’s the
length?
VINCENT
The length is the same, but they call
it 60 meters.
JULES
What do they call a referee?
VINCENT
I dunno, I didn’t go into the penalty box.
But you know what they do in case of a tie in
international hockey?
JULES
What?
VINCENT
A shootout.
JULES
Goddamn!
VINCENT
I seen ‘em do it. And I don’t mean
a little bit on the side of the
rink, they fuckin’ drown ‘em in
it.
